If you haven't heard the Hot 97 Angie interview with 50 Cent your probably not aware of how this beef started. On the interview Cam'ron called in and had something to say about 50 dissing Koch Records. Needless to say 50 didn't take it lightly. During the interview he was calm in collective, but after he went into the studio at got busy. He put out a dis record going at Cam' titled Funeral Music. Check it out its something to laugh about. Cam'ron did not wait long to put out his reply.

Three 6 Mafia Wins an Oscar !?!

Wow! who would've thought that Three 6 Mafia would win an Oscar??? That's amazing. They one for the song "It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp" from the movie Hustle and Flow. I got to admit that song was perfect for the movie, shit, I got the sound track for the songs that were in the movie. "Whop That Trick" is the ultimate hype mas song. So much props goes out the THree 6 for getting that Oscar.

Cam'ron and Jay-z It's Not Over

I read that Cam'rom is going to get Jimmy Walker to act as Jay-z in his next video. Jimmy was J.J. on the tv show "Good Times" (for those that didn't know). It seems to me that Cam'ron is trying to add fuel to the fire. Jay was mature about the situation and it almost died down. But if Cam comes out with this I'm not sure if Jay will keep his cool... we'll see...

Top Ten Christmas Wishes

10) For Memphis Bleek to come out with a hot album - He's been one hit away for years now. It would be nice him to really shine... but this might be a Christmas miracle...

9) 50 Cent stop putting out bs to sell - I'm tired of the "Candy Shops" and the "magic sticks" songs that 50 is doing. Its sell BIG but not quality hip hop. He is actually better than that he should show it more often.

8) Talib Kweli and Mos Def get more recognition - These dudes have been under the radar for countless amount of years. They're more then just conscience rappers.

7) Canibus get brought back out to the light - At one point in time he was hot. Now know one would give him the time a day. The Hip-hop world should start listening again.

6) To get signed to Def Jam - As you know everyone and they mother write rhymes and i'm no exception. It would be hot to get signed but I won't hold my breath.

5) Down south rappers stop rapping about their grill - Ok... I get it, your teeth are shinny, I get the point (Paul Wall and Mike Jones). I hope they stop it.

4) Get more recognition for what i do - Who doesn't want this?

3) Have an interview with Jay-z, Nas, and Eminem - To sit all these guys down and pick brain would be an experience. And then I'd ref a battle between all of them. (Who would win?)

2) Jay-z and Nas come out a song - If they come out with a song together it would be monumental for hip-hop. (Cross your fingers)

1) Jay-z to officially come out of retirement - I know he can't stay away. He has to be itching to come out with a new album, instead of being featured on all his artists records. Top Ten Christmas Gifts to Get for You or Others

10) Cologne or Perfume - so we all smell good for the holidays (and every other day for that matter).

8) New Kicks - nice foot wear is always a plus.
7) A Good Book - it's been a while since I read a good book.

Canibus... Remember Him?

What ever happened to Canibus? At one point in time he was the illest underground lyricist/battle MC now it seems like he's just a memory. I still have some his lryics from the late 90's banging in my head...like...

"...Niggas, they wanna murder me, that's why my burgundy suburban be, full of secret service security, transporting me back and forth from the affirmative action university, in aircrafts that take off and land vertically, the fact that I aint treated like a king is absurd to me, from the streets of dirty Jersey to Germany niggas heard of me..."

Canibus was definitly one of the hottest dudes out. I was a big fan of his during the late 90's. But it seems like after his album 2000 BC he instantly became yesterday's news. I think his main problem was that every song sounded like a freestyle. He couldn't make the transition from battle rapper to an all around rapper. That caused his down fall.

A friend of mine told me that Canibus has a new album out and let me listen to one of the songs. It was alright at most. It sounded like something he could've did in '98 but never put out, that's how much he hasn't changed throughout the years. After a while the same old stuff becomes boring. If you listen to Jay, Nas, Big, Pac, or Em each of their albums are different from the ones before. As they progressed in the rap game their style evovled as well. That's where Canibus fell behind. It's kind of ironic too because he's the one that said...

"No pain no gain in this rap game, For the fortune and fame in order to remain, Most real MC's, learn to adapt to the change, or get washed away like tears in the rain, in the rain... "

Top Ten Rap Artist Out Right Now

Honestly there aren't many good artist out right now. With that said, there's not a great selection to choose from. I found myself struggling to even pick a decent ten. The following list are people that have had an album or single out in 2005. I didn't include Jay-z or Nas becuase they are both legends and that wouldnt be fair to the rest of the rappers out. If I had to include them they would be numbers 1 and 2 respectively. Here is my list.

10) Tha Game:
This new commer hit the game hard with G-Unit representing the west coast. Then turned on his boss 50 cent, 300 bars was serious...

9) 50 Cent:
Although he's everywhere right now (music, movies, video games, etc) his lyrics aren't that good. But he does make hits like every other week so that why he's up here

8) Young Jeezy:
This guy came out of no where and became a thug's motivation. He represents the streets forreal.

7) Ma$e:
Although he flip flopped from paster to murder you cant deny that Ma$e has ill lyrics with a cool melody to go with it.

6) Cassidy:
He came up as an underground/mixtape rapper. His first album flopped but the new one is sick. He came back strong and displayed his lyrical talent.

5) Jada:
I dont have to say much about Jada, his track record speaks for itself.

4) Cam'ron:
Cam'ron is the most gangsta rapper out right now. Who else you know that could get shot and have a song out about it 2 days later.

3) Lil Wayne:
Since he came out at the age of 15 he had a swagger that no one could mess with. He's a down south rapper with lyrics and flow from up north

2) Beanie Sigel:
Is the truth. No need to say more.

1) Kanye West:
Original, talented, flamboyant are just some of the words to describe him. He hit the game hard with lyrics and beats. The reason I think he's so good is the topics he talks about is different from what you would hear on the regular basis.

Jay-z and Nas Patches Things Up

Jay-Z patches things up with Nas at the Power House Concert. Jay-Z's "I Declare War" concert turned into displays of peace. I remember when I first heard the Takeover record where Jay-Z rips Nas and others apart. Then Nas came back with Ether, which was equally damaging to Jay-z. I think the lyrical competition between the two were good for hip-hop. We saw the two big names lyrically rip each other apart. Now the two big names are on the same side. This may equally impact hip hop the same way that the rivalry did. Personally, I'm more of a Jay-Z fan but I do respect the lyrical genius of Nas. Now imagine if Jay-Z and Nas release a single together. How much fire would that record produce?....

Jin Win's 50G's at FightKlub

Does anybody remember who Jin is???... Well... he's that BET battling cat that got signed by Ruff Ryders and never was heard of again... Well anyway... He was up against the some of his toughest peers in the hip hop scene... and destroyed them all...

I remember seeing Jin back in the day ripping cats left and right on Freestyle Friday (the only time I watch 106 and Park). The best battlers are the people who freestyle off the top of the dome. Jin is one of those people.

Now if you watch freestyle Friday everyone is spittin written lyrics... that kind of waters down the action of the battle. If I was a judge on freestyle Friday and both of the "MCs" on there were spittin written lyrics, I'd disqualify both of them for perpetrating as a real MC and get two new contestants...

Notorious B.I.G. and Bob Marley Duet

Clinton Sparks produces a Notorious B.I.G. track on B.I.G.'s up coming album, Duets: The Final Chapter. On this track,Hold Ya Hand, Sparks mixes rap verses from Biggie with the vocals of Bob Marley which results in something hot for you to listen to. The article on Sohh.com interviews Sparks on how he came up with the idea to do the track.

Before I even listened to the track I knew it was going to be hot. After I heard it, it was confirmed. I can't image what the game would be like if Biggie was still around... who knows?... well... if I had to take a guess... I would say that P.Diddy would still be Puff Daddy... Lil Kim would be 10 times better... Biggie would be co-owner of Bad Boy... Jay-Z would feel how Nas feels right now... (2nd best)... that's my two cents... whats yours?

"How they gon' charge me for attempt, disrespecting my aim..."- Beanie Sigel. Beans is one of those rap cats that can't leave the hood alone and the hood loves him for it. Why is it that when rap figures go to jail their popularity increases? For example, Lil' Kim is in jail now and it seems to have revived her rap career...
... Back to Beans... is he on Rocafella or Dame Dash Music Group? In the November issue of XXL mag his says, "Right now I'm not with Damon Dash Music Group and I'm not with Roc-A-Fella Records. The first time I saw the "I'm Not a Rapper" t-shirts I felt some type of way about them. For some reason I took offense to it. I think the main reason I have a problem with it is because most of society see being a rapper as negative. So when black people wear that t-shirt I think they're saying "I'm black but I'm not negative." I see a rapper as being a talented individual that has a way with words to make anybody listening to it feel what they are saying. So why wouldn't you want to be that? And why the hell does it cost $34.99 for this t-shirt.

Jay-Z Creates a Blueprint for Def Jam Left

Jay-Z has plans to create Def Jam Left which is "an artist-driven label with very low deals so people are not pressured by first-week Soundscan," he says. He is looking to sign The Roots on this label.

This new Def Jam Left might be a big deal. This could give a lot of underground cats an opportunity to get their records heard with out having a huge overhead to worry about. The only question is, how accessible will Def Jam Left be?

For those that know and for those that dont know... I go to NJIT and i got to represent for real... I'm back in school now and I'm feelin like most of you are feelin that are back at school... Before things get too hectic Imma enjoy myself at every back to school party... this week i went to two parties back to back and both of them was in my hood... BRICK CITY... aka Newark... on Thursday I was at Rutgers Newark and on Friday right here at NJIT....

that picture right there shows you how I saw the party... it was all a blur for real nah mean... shhh dont tell no body... anyways... i got to big up that dude that kept both those parties rocking DJ Wallah... he's in the picture below on the right... You might have seen him on BET The Basement a couple of time and on Friday night he was at NJIT killin it...

For the most part I think the party was aight... if you was there too let me know what you thought about it... was it good? bad? was the chicks aight... how many numbers did you get? (I got one but I dont call, I do it for the love of the game now a days)... reyshizz in and out....

Cassidy: The Hustla

I will not lye I slept on Cassidy for a long time but after I heard his new album "I'm a Hustla" I became a fan over night.

Most freestyle MC's don't make great albums... shit they don't even make good albums. Could you think of any?... They either try to go too commercial to sell records (e.g. Cassidy's first album) or stick with the freestyle type of songs to remain street but are boring (e.g. Canibus).

I think on Cassidy's latest album he just did what he does best... produce good lyrics. If you never heard the album you should try listening to it, it'll probably change your opinion of Cassidy like it did for me...

Now he's back to the slick talking Murder Ma$e that we knew before he left the game... He has a verse out with G-Unit, Mobb Deep, and MOP on a track called "300 Shots"... Ma$e is spittin venom on dis track you HAVE to hear it... I think the transition will be good for rap but bad for Ma$e's image...

"Shut Up Bitch" and "Put Your Lighters Up" It looks like she came back strong... Hot 97 Gets Smacked After Smackfest

Hot 97 coughs up 300k as a result of Smackfest 2004. During Smackfest listeners were invited to come on the air and take turns smacking each other silly for summerjam tickets and a grand pize of 5000. They were not allow to block as they were getting smacked. Spitzer, NY State Attorney General, filed a civil suit against the station, which was settled out of court for 300k.

Now if two people (male vs. male, female vs. female) want to smack each other silly for a prize i say let 'em... boxers been knocking each other out for the longest... what was so different about Smackfest? i dont know... some say Spitzer filed the civil suit as publicity for the up coming elections in NY... What ever the case is, hot 97 lost 300k...and "i dont care oh well oh well" dats how it is...

I Dont Want to Hear That Tune Again... Do not Rewind

Why is it that every time i turn on the radio i hear the same old songs over and over and over again. Some are good some aren't, but the bad part is that the good songs get played out FAST. For example, the Diamonds song by Kanyewas hot the first time i heard it on the radio, but after the 100th time listenning to it i got tired of it and his album isn't even out yet. Now, when i do get the album i'll have to skip over that song because hot 97 played it out. I think the reason for this is that there are not enough radio friendly songs out that are hot... and the few that are gets played out early... the radio stations need to start expanding their playlist to more than just a couple of songs... i know dj's have an endless amount of music... maybe they should start playing them instead of keepin it for themselves... what do you think?

I got to see one of my peoples perform on stage infront of an audience... If any of you live around the Philly area you might be familiar with the radio station Wired 96.5 Well they thru a party in Alantic City on Nikki Beach this past weekend and my boy Tha Don performed there...

A Break From Rap... An R&B Alternative??

Every now and then i like to take a break from hardcore rap and listen to some R&B. My favorite R&B album of last year (and most of this year) was John Legend Get Lifted but i might have a new one. I don't know how many people ever heard of Trey Songz but he's a new R&B cat on the scene. 15 Min. Freestyle... Whaaaa?

the game is serious right now. he must really hate g-unit, or as he puts it "g-unot." why else would he spit 300 bars non stop talkin about the "beef" between them. he verbally attacks all issues with the g-unit camp along with some shots at memphis bleek and the young guns from the roc.
lyrically i dont think anyone from the g-unit camp could touch the game. the only one who might give him comp is lloyd banks, with all his punch lines. we all know that memphis bleek doesnt have lyrics. the young guns together could prolly face the game but not on their own.
if you havent heard it yet go to your local bootlegger and find a mix tape with the track "300 bars and running" by the game you will not be disappointed.

Have you turned on your radio lately and thought, "How da f**K this get put on the air?" Or "This guy has to be the whackest MC I have ever heard." If you have, I feel your pain. I've been going through it for a while and have decided to do something about it.

This site is devoted to looking at the hip hop industry, through untainted eyes, and keeping an ear to the ground, listening to rap music with a lyrical mind. I basically want to reveal Da Real Hip Hop under all the garbage that’s corrupting the air waves.

In the process of doing that, I will also be delivering hip-hop news about whats going on in the industry.
